The Common Decency

The Common Decency began in 1999 when four kids in high school decided to play music together, including Nick Smith on bass, Sean Hamilton on guitar and vocals, Ryan Marek on guitar, and Brian Terraciano on drums. The band started out by playing Pennywise covers in our parent's basements, and over the long years of high school developed a style of melodic hardcore punk of their own that has been unparalleled by any other band in the area. Our first release was an eight song CD recorded on a 4-track TASCAM recorder titled "The Kids are a Cause," which is now very rare and only exists in a few other countries. If you own one of these, you've either A) known us for a very long time or B) sold your soul to Satan himself. Next we released another demo in cassette format this time, containing the songs "Insomnia," "The End," and live rehearsal versions of "Once Again" and "Last Place" We sold about 30 or so of these bad boys for $2, in all its 4-track goodness. The lineup at this point was the same as it was when we started, except for Jon Rivera replacing Brian as timekeeper. We practiced and played shows with Jon for about a year and a half, recording another three track demo at Moon Room Studios in Tannersville, PA with Zach Hosier of Split Fifty. This being our third demo, was titled "Thremo" including the tracks "Intro," "Hard to Believe," and "Discard." It eventually became time for us to part ways with Jon, who is still a friend of ours. When we were in need of a new drummer, Brian ended up coming back into the band to play drums for us once again. since his return we have played shows all over the tri-state area with bands like Ritter, Split Fifty, Bigwig, The Sloppy Meateaters, Jettison, Stick figure Suicide, Kill Verona, The Forever Endeavor, Slightly askew, From the Ashes, Team Radar, Tracer, The Pennyroyals, Short Wave Radio, No On 15, The Holy Fallout, Humble Beginnings, and lots more. Now with the brand new release, "Devil's Work," TCD will continue to bring forth its influential stylings of melodic thrashcore. Look for the band to rock out in a town near you very soon!
